Churches named for women are rare. Virginia Wingard Memorial United Methodist Church was named for a woman whose life reflected the heart of Christ. Virginia Wingard spent her days serving others — comforting the sick, visiting the lonely, and offering kindness wherever she went. One day, while tending to
patients in the hospital, she herself became ill. True to her spirit, she slipped quietly into a hospital bed, and from there, into God’s eternal care. Her life of compassion, service, and inclusion still shapes/informs who we are. We are a church that believes in serving with love, walking with humility, welcoming to all and caring for our neighbors as she did and as Christ commands. We do this out of devotion and not duty. From our food pantry to our clothes closet, from worship to community outreach, we strive to live as a people
whose faith takes the form of loving service and compassion. At Virginia Wingard Memorial, we honor her legacy and the God she loved not just by remembering her story, but by continuing it
